BUCKEYES, MICHIGAN INTENDED TO LOSE
For the first time in nearly fifty years, both the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines are heading into their season-ending showdown coming off a loss. Illinois beat the Buckeyes 28-21, and Wisconsin beat the Wolverines, 37-21.Jeff Cez: Geez, I hope that doesn’t put a damper on the festivities. Whenever these two venerable programs meet, regardless of who wins or loses, you can’t help but think, “Which one will get their ass handed to ‘em on a serving tray at a BCS Bowl?”
MICKELSON WINS TOURNEY IN LEAD-DRENCHED CHINA
Phil Mickelson blew a 6-stroke lead but came back to win a playoff at the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China.Jeff Cez: Pro golf contributes a tremendous amount of money to charity, but when it comes to international politics, it goes anywhere like a drunk bra salesman with an open-ended corporate account – Dubai in the middle of a war, Bali in a tsunami, and now even China, which ran over a kid with a tank not too long ago and still occasionally drowns its female babies. I can only hope the theory is, “Breaking down international walls, one Adams Tight Lie at a time.”
REX THE WONDER BEAR
After starting quarterback Brian Griese went down with an injury, much-maligned Chicago signal-caller Rex Grossman tossed a 59-yard TD bomb that helped the Bears beat the Oakland Raiders, 17-6.Jeff Cez: Enjoy all the deep-dish pizza you can eat, FREE, for at least a week, Rex! You’re gonna get some reps, because Griese is hurt and I think your backup is either Don Strock or Zeke Bratkowski.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK!
With rumors swirling that Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville may be moving on to Texas A&M, Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves said, "We can't focus on, 'Is he leaving, or is he going?’”Jeff Cez: No you can’t focus on that Quentin, or eventually you’re brain will get caught in a swirling wormhole vortex and literally implode. But you are one helluva defensive end.
