State Nittany Lions gave their head football coach
Joe Paterno a heckuva 125th birthday gift
- a victory over Michigan State, 37-13!
"It was beautiful," said the aging but spry Paterno,
"although I didn't really see it because of the cataracts,
and then at one point the straw I use to steer my wheelchair
got clogged and I wound up stuck in some mud behind a power
stanchion. But my nurse said it was amazing." Paterno's
players lifted a lifelike wax replica of him onto their
shoulders at game's end and carried it off, while Paterno
jumped into his usual pneumatic tube and was transported
back to the ICU unit at Happy Valley Medical Center.
