David Lloyd. (actual focus) |
Bristol, CT - After research
that consisted mostly of watching ESPN News
at really odd hours, Sportalicious! reporters disguised
as women who got into sports bars free on Ladies Night discovered
that the ESPN News reporter who ripped
off our own Chet Waterhouse's homer call is named David
Lloyd. The signature homer call in question, "'Scuse
Me While I Kiss The Sky!," has been Chet's homer call
for his entire career spanning back to his days calling
Kenosha (WI) Twins games in single A ball, right up to last
year when he called Cheddar Falls (WI) Brewers' games in
the Lumberjack League. "Okay, it's an entire two-decade
career spent in the minors and in fact sliding backwards
a bit, but that is not the point," said Sportalicious!
acting editor Dick Baker
of "Ask Outdoor Dick." "Announcers are known
by their homer calls, and Lloyd flat-out ripped off Chet!"
Chet, on his way to Athens for
our coverage of the Olympics, was unavailable
for comment because he did not switch his cell phone plan
to include international minutes, but a message received
by semaphore flag from a freighter in the Atlantic said
simply, "Leg wrestle to the death!" "We await
Lloyd's comment on this blatant thievery," said Baker.
When asked why the Sportalicious! reporters bothered to
dress as women just to go to a sports bar, Baker said, "Don't
nitpick this."
