Translation from Arabic:
"Al Jazeera's Olympic coverage brought
to you by Super Gyros - Even superheroes
eat Super Gyros!"
|
East Jihad, United Arab Emirates
- Arab television network Al Jazeera, prevented by the Greeks
from covering the upcoming Olympic games in person, has
announced it will instead cover the Olympiad from the Great
Greek restaurant in Sherman Oaks, California, a suburb north
of Los Angeles in the famed San Fernando Valley. Despite
appearing to be a legitimate television broadcast entity,
Greek spokesman Constantin "Gus" Constantinopolos
said, "Wherever Al Jazeera is, something blows up.
Boom. And who has pictures? Al Jazeera. We put the two with
the other two to create the four. No laminated credentials
for you, my friends." Al Jazeera said they chose the
Great Greek because it has an "authentic feel"
and "tremendous lemon chicken" and because "LA
airport is a sieve." The Great Greek said it initially
was against the idea but that the Al Jazeera crew has already
drank its weight in Ouzo, and so they've given them the
John Stamos Booth, the biggest booth in the place. (Actually,
we were going to end this piece on an exclamation point,
but ran out of them this issue)
