Sportalicious Dumpit - The Habit-Altering Geltab

With Baseball's Opening Day 2003 upon us, Sportalicious! has courageously wandered into the quagmire that is: Who's Better? The 1961 New York Yankees or the 2003 Anaheim Angels. We hope to head off further debate about the subject in our Fantasy Matchup!

PITCHING Well folks, it’s tough enough hitting a Aaron Sele fastball or a Jarrod Washburn slider when you’re in your athletic prime. Most of the ’61 Yanks who are still alive are in their 60s at best. ADVANTAGE:
DEFENSE Maybe “back in the day” the Yanks' gloves could suffocate you, but now there’s no guarantee they’ll get leather on the ball. And if they do, lookout box seats, those throws to first are sailin’ way high! Some of their dead guys have better arms.

ADVANTAGE:

BASERUNNING Sure, Anaheim’s got the fresh legs, but you steal a base on the pitcher. ADVANTAGE:
COACHING I like what Mike Scioscia has done at Anaheim, and his players respond in kind – they’ll bang it deep if he asks them to, or just sit and nitpick you to death if that’s what the situation demands. They’ve taken on the demeanor of their manager – tough but level-headed. As for the Yanks, Ralph Houk is dead. No contest. ADVANTAGE:
OVERALL This was a tough one for our editors. But we're paid to make the tough choices. ADVANTAGE:
